Change your life with a game of zombie chess

Why changing your perspective is a fundamental skill in life.

Hi, I'm Kat!
What I am most passionate about is to inspire you to see that your life is your own and biggest masterpiece.

The other day, I was playing chess with my son. And as we are both not very gifted at the game, he decided to play Zombie chess. The differences to normal chess: All figures are placed someplace else, although still in the 16 initial squares and they also move in the pattern that is assigned to them. I think he called it Zombie chess because it was immediately after he was check-mate and didn’t want to really loose – so he decided that he is not really dead.

So, we played that game. And I can tell you: It is HARD. Because, if you have played chess more than once, you know some patterns, you have your opening pattern or what to look out of in certain places or situations. When all the figure are someplace else? Gosh. That is hard. My son had me and my king in trouble real quick, I can tell you.

And that showed me something fundamental that also is applicable to my life and your life:

We all move in patterns. We react to certain triggers, situations and people, we know what to expect and what to look out for, we might sometimes get bored even.

If you switch things up, your game literally changes. And switching things up could be two things:

Switch up your point of view

What if you could put all your preconceptions, assumptions, hurt feelings, shame and everything that you have in your backpack of feelings, aside. If you changed your point of view for everything that – in your eyes – is not the way it is supposed to be? What if you could assume that the coworker that really REALLY gets on your nerves is in reality really insecure and masks this inner helpless child with arrogance? Would that change something for you? Would you react differently? What if you viewed yourself not as not enough but for just perfect? How would you act differently? Would certain situations feel differently? Would you react differently? Or what if you just accepted that you are a wonderful, beautiful, lovable person? How would that change your life? What if you could try these points of view like clothes each time a triggering event comes up? Play a game of zombie chess whenever your thoughts and feelings and beliefs get you down. In your mind, switch your place and see what happens.

Switch your actual position

Find a new job, a new home, a new partner, a new hobby or a new wardrobe. Having new input from the outside will make it way easier for you to think differently, to feel differently and to act differently – thus, getting different outcomes in your life. Although, your mind will ultimately be the one thing that will change things for good. If you actually believe new beliefs and think new thoughts and feel different feelings can you actually create different results. But, it is so much harder to change your thinking when you are in the same environment  as before. It might really be a good nudge to change something up physically to help the mind adjust. Changing the outside and the inside at the same time will make it so much easier for you to adjust to a new thinking pattern and therefore a different pattern of acting.

What do you think?

I think my son had a fabulous idea!

With all my love!

xx
